Richard came home last week with a very unusual 12” ball light shade from an unknown maker, which we think is most likely American made in the U.S.A. But when? Is it Edwardian, Victorian, or Classic Art Deco? It’s a real mystery to us.

So cool-- But how is it used?

It is actually two bowl shaped pieces which set into two hinged Brass Rings with latches to hold it together as a ball.

We can only assume it was made this way for ease of changing the light bulb without removing it from the light fixture. What a clever idea!

But what kind of fixture? Was this shade made for use in a Pendant, a Semi-Drop Ceiling Light Fixture, or to set on top of a Post? Does anyone know?

At any rate, without any answers, it is fascinating, and makes great Collectible Antique Decor which would definitely double as a interesting conversation piece.

It’s a another nifty Treasure from among the Cobwebs.
